Moesgaard and Aarhus featured on TIME’S annual list of the world’s greatest places

The museum and the city's Viking origin are highlighted by Time on this year's list of the world's most extraordinary places to visit

Today, TIME reveals the third annual list of the World’s Greatest Places, which highlights 50 extraordinary travel destinations around the world.

Moesgaard Museum is featured as one of the exciting experiences in Aarhus, Denmark, which earned a spot on this year’s list.

"We are delighted that Aarhus and, among others, Moesgaard Museum and the city's Viking origin are highlighted on Time's list. At Moesgaard, we constantly strive to provide unique, significant, and meaningful experiences, and this is a great recognition and something we can utilize when creating the special exhibitions about major world history topics, which is characteristic of Moesgaard. The fact that you can literally walk on the same streets in Aarhus as the Vikings did is one of the things that makes the city absolutely unique, and it is something we are proud to be able to highlight and present at Moesgaard," says director of Moesgaard Museum, Mads Kähler Holst.

To compile this list, TIME solicited nominations of places—including countries, regions, cities and towns—from its international network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences.
